In a groundbreaking case reflecting our firm’s commitment to corporate accountability and labor rights, we represented the legal heirs of several factory workers who lost their lives due to hazardous and unsafe working conditions at a Nestlé Pakistan production facility. The workers had been assigned to high-risk areas without adequate safety measures, protective gear, or emergency protocols.
When the tragic deaths occurred, the company initially refused to acknowledge fault or extend fair compensation to the bereaved families. Our legal team, led by Advocate Izzat Fatima, filed a comprehensive constitutional and civil claim highlighting the employer’s gross negligence, violation of labor safety laws, and breach of fundamental rights under Articles 9 (right to life) and 14 (dignity of man) of the Constitution of Pakistan.
After rigorous litigation and evidence-based advocacy, the court recognized the employer’s liability and directed compensation of PKR 7.5 million to each widow, in addition to pension benefits and other entitlements. This decision not only provided meaningful relief to the affected families but also set a precedent that reaffirmed the legal responsibility of corporations towards the safety and welfare of their workers.
This case was widely reported in national media and is now cited as a landmark in Pakistan’s evolving jurisprudence on workplace safety, labor dignity, and industrial accountability.
